HUNT Research Centre ISO 9001 certified

HUNT Research Centre who administers the well known HUNT studies is the first human biobank in Norway to be certified according to the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Standard. The HUNT quality system includes data collection, data storage, quality assurance and storage of biological samples and data in HUNT Biobank and HUNT Databank.

HUNT Research Centre administers historically unique and valuable data and biological material collected in HUNT over 25 years and quality is therefore of great importance in every aspect of Research Centre’s operation. The collection includes almost two million aliquots of biological material, and more than 5 500 data variables from 130 000 donors.

According to professor Kristian Hveem, Head of HUNT Biobank and CSO of HUNT Biosciences, the ISO certification will be of importance when it comes to international research collaboration, both academically and to commercial collaborations through HUNT Biosciences. Dr Per A. Foss, CEO of HUNT Biosciences, states that the certification will have great impact on establishing  collaboration projects with  pharmaceutical and diagnostic industry as there is a high demand for quality assured samples from biobanks with  highly annotated biomaterial.
